SOPHOMORE FORWARD KIMONIA MULLINGS LEADS COUGARS AGAINST YORK IN CONFERENCE OPENER

Brooklyn, NY- The Women's Basketball team fell to the York College Cardinals 70-37 earlier tonight. The Cardinals improve to 2-3 overall and 1-0 CUNYAC, while the Cougars drop to 0-4 overall and 0-1 CUNYAC. 

The Cougars shot 31.4% from the field (16-51 FG-FGA) and 36.4% from the free throw line (4-11 FT-FTA) for the game. The 37pts is the most the team has scored this season. In the loss, they were led by Sophomore Forward Kimonia Mullings with 14 points (7-13 FG-FGA). The Flushing, NY native grabbed seven rebounds, swiping two shots, and added two steals.Sophomore Guard Ashley Desir recorded eight points and Junior Guard Nia Tompkins added seven points. 
In the win, York Cardinals were led by Samantha Bond with a game high 17 points. Three other student-athletes scored in double figures including the following: Angelika Ruggiano (12 points), Nia Rene (12 points), and Jigcara Grant with (10 points).

The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday November 29, 2014, when they battle Yeshiva Unversity Maccabees. Tip off will be 8:00 pm. This will be part of the 16th Annual Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament. The other game will feature the College of Old Westbury Panthers vs. The College of New Rochelle Blue Angels. That game will start at 6:00 pm.
