Brooklyn, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team (4-3) traveled to borough and conference foe Medgar Evers College (0-10) on Tuesday evening for a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) matchup. The Bulldogs won handily, 80-22, to improve to 3-0 in the conference and remain atop the league standings.
BC shot 50% (35-for-70) from the field, but struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 12.5% (2-for-16). The Bulldogs also shot 57.1% (8-for-14) from the free throw line.
The Cougars were held to under 20% shooting from the field, as Medgar Evers shot just 18% (9-for-50) from the field, including 16.7% (2-for-12) from three. The home team also went 2-for-8 (25.0%) from the line.
Nacirema Mann led the Bulldogs with a game-high 17 points, to go with a team-high 10 rebounds, to record the double-double coming off the bench. Maya Ajee-Thomas nearly had a double-double of her own coming off the bench, as the transfer had the best game of her young Brooklyn career with 11 points and eight rebounds. Megan Campbell was the third Bulldog in double-figures with 10 points.
Nicole Francomano dished out six assists, to go with six points and four steals, while Chrissy Heyer dished out five assists, to go with eight points and five steals. Asia Foster had a solid game with eight points and eight rebounds.
For Medgar, Nia Thompkins led the Cougars with a team-leading 12 points. Kimonia Mullings pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
Brooklyn returns to action this Friday, December 12th, as the Bulldogs will welcome CUNYAC rival Lehman College to the West Quad Center. The game will feature a battle for first place, as the Lightning enter the game with an identical 3-0 record in CUNYAC player. The game is scheduled for a 5:00 pm start time. BCTV will be on hand to film the game.
