JAMAICA, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's basketball team continued its winning ways by defeating host York College, 58-52, in CUNY Athletic Conference action, on Tuesday evening. The Lightning are now 3-0 in CUNYAC play, and have won five in a row overall.

Lehman (5-2, 3-0 CUNYAC) was once again led by junior guard Jennifer Navarro (Jamaica, N.Y./Grover Cleveland), who scored a game-high 20 points and tallies six three-point field goals.

In the later stages of the second half, the Lightning were hanging on to a four-point lead until sophomore guard Amely Del Rosario (Bronx, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) laid the ball up and in to put Lehman up, 48-42, with 7:58 remaining in regulation. One minute later, Navarro followed with a three-point basket to increase Lehman's lead to nine. The Cardinals (3-6, 2-1 CUNYAC) were forced to play catch-up for the remainder of the game but could not catch Lehman as the Blue and Gold were able to pull away and win their fifth game of the season.

York was able to build a four-point lead early in the first half, but a three-point field goal from Del Rosario narrowed Lehman's deficit to 9-8, just over four minutes into the game. Later in the first stanza, junior forward Karrin Walker (New York, N.Y./Richard R. Green) was able to lay the ball up and in to put Lehman in the lead for good, 14-13, with 13:51 left to play in the opening half. Lehman would build on that lead for the remainder of the half and went into the intermission, up 34-24.

Del Rosario finished the evening with 14 points and dished out a game-high six assists. Walker grabbed a game-high 16 boards and scored eight points. Junior forward Yarmese Jones (Astoria, N.Y./William C. Bryant) tallied 12 rebounds and added eight points of her own.

Lehman will conclude the three-game conference road trip with a showdown against Brooklyn College, on Friday. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
