New York, NY --- The Brooklyn College Women's Basketball team rolled past the Bloodhounds of John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 74-53, on Saturday afternoon in City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play at the Doghouse on the campus of John Jay.
With the win, BC evens its overall record to 3-3 overall on the season, while moving to 2-0 in CUNYAC play. The Bloodhounds remain winless on the year, falling to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Bulldogs never trailed in the game, as BC scored the first five points in the contest on a bucket from senior Megan Campbell and a three-pointer from classmate Vanessa D'Ambrosi. D'Ambrosi powered the Bulldogs' offense in the first half, as she drilled six three-pointers in the opening period en route to scoring 22 points to help lead Brooklyn to 38-18 halftime lead. The Bloodhounds would be unable to recover from its halftime deficit, as the Bulldogs would maintain their 20-point advantage throughout the second half en route to the 74-53 victory.
D'Ambrosi would finish with a game-high 24 points, while also adding nine rebounds in 28 minutes of play.
Senior Asia Foster registered a double-double with 12 points and a game-best 12 rebounds, while classmate Nicole Francomano also recorded a double-double with 11 points and game-leading 10 assists.
John Jay was led by Terri Chu's team-high 15 points, while Brianna Cunningham finished with a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
For the game, Brooklyn shot 39.7% (29-for-73) from the field, including 30.4% (7-for-23) from three. The Bulldogs shot 50.0% (9-for-18) from the free throw line.
BC held the Bloodhounds to just 27.1% (16-for-59) shooting from the field for the game. John Jay also shot 38.1% (8-for-21) from beyond the arc and 65.0% (13-for-20) from the charity stripe.
Brooklyn scored 18 points off of 19 John Jay turnovers and also outscored the home team 32-8 in the paint. BC out-rebounded the Bloodhounds, 56-42.
The Bulldogs return to action this Tuesday, December 9th, as BC will travel to borough and conference foe Medgar Evers College. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 pm start time.
