Terrance Posts Double-Double Vs. Spartans

Buffalo, NY – Junior Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) finished with a game-high 22 points and added 12 rebounds as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team dropped a back-and-forth road battle to D'Youville College, 62-58, on Sunday afternoon.
 
After trailing 14-4 just more than midway through the first half SUNY Canton outscored the Spartans 25-13 the final 8:51 of the half to take a 29-27 lead into intermission.
 
D'Youville (4-1) used a 13-3 run out of intermission to open up a 40-32 advantage. Trailing by seven with 7:21 remaining the Roos used a 5-0 run from Terrance that included three makes from the free throw line to trim the deficit to just two points at 53-51.


Karyss Terrance posted season-highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds against D'Youville.

The Spartans would open up an eight-point lead with 2:45 to play, but after Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) three-pointer with 27 seconds remaining the Roos were within just three points. D'Youville missed the front end of a one-and-one with 21 seconds left but a key offense rebound from Amanda Marcely allowed Awilda Murphy a trip to the charity stripe as she split a pair to open the lead to the final 62-58 margin.
 
Terrance led all players with 22 points and added 12 rebounds and five assists on 8-for-13 shooting. Brianna Sayer(Hermon, NY) was the only other Roo in double figures with 15 points, while Logan Tallman (Heuvelton, NY) added nine points on 3-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Saltus finished with eight points, while CaseyLynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) posted game-highs of 19 rebounds and six assists.
 
Jean-Ann Korona paced the Spartans with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Marcely added 15 points and 14 rebounds. The Roos committed just 13 turnovers, while forcing D'Youville to give up the ball 17 times.
