Marymount Stymies Sothern Virginia in CAC Opener

More news about: Marymount

Arlington, Va. – Junior Miranda Krott and freshman Nicole Viscuso commanded the boards on Monday night, each registering a double-double in Marymount's impressive 82-57 victory over CAC foe Southern Virginia.  The Saints improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in league play with the win.

Viscuso tallied 17 points to supplement her 11 rebounds, while Krott tossed in 12 points to accompany the ten boards she hauled in.  Kievanna Lacey led all scorers with a game-high 20 points on the night, while Leah Hurst and Dominique Dickens also notched a notable 13 and 12, respectively.

The Knights struck first with a quick basket just three seconds in, but a 9-0 rebuttal from the Saints would put the Blue and White on top for good.

The first half saw Marymount absolutely torch the visitors, gradually building a daunting 43-27 advantage to carry into the break.

The ensuing period proved much of the same, as the Saints continued at their torrid pace.  About halfway through the second half, a 13-0 run from the Blue and White extended the lead to 69-45 – deflating any momentum the Knights had hoped to build.

The remaining ticks saw Marymount maintain its comfortable advantage and down Southern Virginia in authoritative fashion.

The Saints travel to Dover, Del., on Wednesday to face CAC foe Wesley and reigning CAC Player of the Week Alexis Stroud.  Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m.
