Three Score in Double Figures for Women’s Basketball at SUNY Poly

Marcy, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team received balanced scoring and led at halftime, but a strong second half from host SUNY Polytechnic institute gave the host Wildcats a 78-64 victory on Sunday afternoon.
 
CaseyLynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) led the Roos with 19 points hitting nine of her 16 field goal attempts. Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) posted 14 points to go with game-highs of five assists and five steals.Logan Tallman (Heuvelton, NY) was the third Roo to finish with double figures adding 11 points including going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc.

Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) added nine points, four assists and three steals, while Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) finished with six points and 10 rebounds. SUNY Canton opened the game as Terrance found Sayer for a three-pointer on the games opening possession. This would be the Roos largest lead of the game.


Brianna Sayer posted 14 points and game-highs of 5 assists and 5 steals.

SUNY Poly led by as many as eight (28-20) in the opening half but SUNY Canton closed the half on an 11-2 run to lead 31-30 at intermission. Sayer had four points, while Tallman added a pair of hits from downtown during the run.
 
The Roos led by two at 38-36 2:23 into the second half after Fulton drained a three-pointer, but that would be SUNY Canton's final lead of the game. The Wildcats extended their lead to 12 with 6:14 remaining and held on for the 14-point victory.
 
SUNY Poly held a slim 41-35 edge in rebounding along with a 36-20 advantage in points in the paint. Lauren Knowles led all players with 21 points to go with nine rebounds. Molly MacLachlan and Geena Gallo added 19 points apiece for the Wildcats.
 
The women's basketball team is back in action Saturday when it hosts the Kevin Fee/Roos Classic at the Roos House. SUNY Canton will square off with Bard College at 7:00 p.m.
