Providence, R.I.-Junior guard Michelle Lagrotteria (Niantic, CT) scored a game-high 18 points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out six assists as the Rhode Island College women's basketball dropped a heartbreaker, 68-67, in overtime against Bridgewater St. at The Murray Center on Tuesday night.

The teams started the game evenly matched and took turns trading the lead through the first eight minutes of the half. Starting with a jumper from freshman guard Rhiana Page (Brookline, MA) with 12:32 remaining and ending with a three-pointer from senior guard Rachel Kusz (Worcester, MA) with 4:01 remaining, Bridgewater State (4-1) used a 17-7 run to take 29-18 advantage. The Anchorwomen (0-5) chipped away over the remaining four minutes and a free throw by freshman guard Jess Korzec (West Brookfield, MA) made the score 30-22 Bridgewater State entering the halftime.

The Bears shot 32.3 percent (10-for-31) from the field in the half, while converting on 72.7 percent (8-for-11) from the free throw line.

Rhode Island College struggled from the floor, shooting 20.0 percent (6-for-30) from the field and 64.3 percent (9-for-14) from the charity stripe in the first 20 minutes.

The Anchorwomen continued their comeback, cutting the BSU lead down to two, 36-34, on a layup from sophomore guard Alex Moore (West Newbury, MA), off a feed from Lagrotteria, with 13:36 remaining in the game. Bridgewater State ballooned their lead up to five, 54-49, with just 3:25 remaining, but a Korzec jumper followed by a Lagrotteria three-point play with 42 seconds left on the clock tied the game at 54 and sent the game into overtime.

The Anchorwomen opened a three-point lead when Moore stole the ball near midcourt and converted on a layup with 39 seconds remaining. A steal by Bridgewater State sophomore forward  Jennie Lindland (Edgartown, MA) with nine seconds remaining gave the Bears the final opportunity to score. Junior guard Vanesa Conceicao (New Bedford, MA) was fouled with seven seconds left and buried two free throws to give the Bears the 68-67 lead. Lagrotteria had a chance to win the game with two seconds remaining, but her shot bounced off the rim, giving the Bears the victory.

Kusz scored seven points and hauled in six rebounds. Lindland scored 13 points, grabbed eight boards and recorded a game-high seven steals. The Bears shot 32.8 percent (22-for-67) from the field, 22.2 percent (2-for-9) from downtown and 81.5 percent (22-for-27) from the charity stripe for the game.

RIC was led by Lagrotteria's 18 points, while Moore finished with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 boards. She also dished out five assists and recorded four steals. The Anchorwomen shot 33.3 percent (25-for-75) from the field for the game, while shooting 12.5 percent (2-for-16) from three-point land and 65.2 percent (15-for-23) from the free throw line.

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will host Roger Williams on Sunday, Nov. 30 (2 p.m.).
