MADISON, N.J. (November 22, 2014) – The Drew University women's basketball team defeated the Centenary College Cyclones on Saturday afternoon by a score of 71-57 in Baldwin Gym.

As a team, Drew (3-1) shot 17-of-19 from the free throw line while the Cyclones (1-3) shot only three of seven. The Rangers' charity stripe conversions would prove to be the difference in the contest.

Senior point guard Breana Wilson filled out a comprehensive stat sheet on the day. She contributed 15 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Junior guard Courtney Stephens added a team-high 17 points in the victory, 11 of which came from the foul line.

Sophomore forward Ryan Jackson is now playing an increased role in the Ranger offense, serving as the forward on a relatively small lineup. Jackson, with 26 minutes in the game doubled her 2014 total. She also played more time in this game than she did in all of last season's games combined. She contributed 12 points and six rebounds, exiting early with foul trouble.

The one-sided contest began with the Rangers threading a porous Centenary defense, mostly in the paint. Wilson would storm up the court with forceful dribbles and survey the floor. She would then explode through to complete baseline-to-baseline scores.

The Rangers built a comfortable lead and Wilson decided to spread the ball, firing a one handed bullet to Jackson for an easy bucket.

Jackson, meanwhile, was putting together a career game. The ball seemed to find the center's hands after it caromed off the rim. She would take the Rangers to the half with 10 of their 30 points and five rebounds. Centenary had managed only 18.

Centenary burst out of the locker rooms and began the second half on a 7-0 run. Previously silent sophomore guard Hannah Miller promptly drained a three-pointer, freezing the Cyclone run in its tracks.

Miller's shot propelled Drew to a 7-0 run of their own and a 37-25 lead.

The Rangers got hot from behind the line as a team sophomore guard Courtney Trzasko swished two straight 3-point buckets and Wilson added one of her own. That series saw the Rangers sink more baskets from deep than they did in all of the previous half.

With five minutes remaining Drew led 61-50 with the majority of the difference consisting of Drew's 12 free throws on 13 attempts. The Cyclones got to the line less frequently and shot only three of seven. Drew's lead would hold as the game wound to a close.

The team will break for thanksgiving and return on Wednesday, December 3rd to host The United States Merchant Marine Academy in a non-conference contest slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
