Millikin Women’s Basketball Downs Eureka

          The Millikin women's basketball team defeated Eureka College 84-73 in the Big Blue's home opener on November 18 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill.

          Millikin shot 52 percent from the field while holding the Red Devils to 38 percent.  Millikin controlled the boards out rebounding Eureka 44-32.  The game was a battle between the inside post game of the Big Blue against the three-point shooting of Eureka. 

          Millikin's inside duo of Kelsey Going and Alyssa Saklak won out in the end as Going had a career highs in points and rebounds with 27 points and 11 rebounds.  Saklak had 18 points and four rebounds.  Freshman Emily Shultz gave Millikin some punch from the outside scoring 13 points on five of six shooting including hitting on all three of her three point attempts.  Yip Ypya had nine points.  Rachael Weber had six points and seven rebounds.

          Eureka made 14 three pointers compared to only five for the Big Blue.  Eureka shot 40 percent from three point range.  Kelsey Shoemake and Michaela Balducci led Eureka with 17 points each.  Emily Camden added 14. 

          Millikin will be back in action on Wednesday hosting Blackburn College at 7 p.m.
