WILMINGTON, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team held the 20th-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson Florham offense 23 points below its season average, but the Devils prevailed for a 75-56 victory Friday in the Fred Raizk Memorial Tournament in Wilmington, Ohio.

Rose-Hulman (0-2, 0-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) will face host Wilmington (1-2, 0-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) in the 1 p.m. consolation contest Saturday.

The Engineers hung with the unbeaten Devils (3-0, 0-0 Freedom Conference) for the first 10 minutes of play when junior forward Gracie Gibbs (Parker, Colo./Ponderosa) hit a layup to cut the FDU Florham lead to four, 14-10, with 9:30 to play in the first half.

But the Devils, who were averaging 98.5 points per game in their first two contests, would go on a 23-11 run to end the half to take a commanding 37-21 lead at the break.

Rose-Hulman shot 50 percent from the field for the game compared to 33 percent from FDU Florham, but the Devils made 28-of-35 free throws (80 percent) compared to the Engineers' 50 percent clip (11 for 22) from the line.

Sophomore Andi Evers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) led Rose-Hulman with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists and freshman Abbie Marshall (St. Louis/Nerinx Hall) added eight points and five boards. Evers hit three of her four field goal attempts, including a 2 for 3 performance from the 3-point line.

Gibbs added seven points in 18 minutes of play for the Engineers.

FDU Florham had four players in double figures, led by Kyra Dayon with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting.

The Engineers committed 27 turnovers in the contest, compared to just 11 by FDU Florham.

Wilmington fell to Case Western Reserve in the tournament opener, 76-68. Haley Howard led the Quakers with 14 points in the loss.
