Whitewater never led in the game and faced their largest first half deficit of the season, 16 points 41-25. UW-W scored just three points in the final eight minutes of the first half.
UW-Superior shot the lights out making 19-37 (51%) from the floor compared to Whitewater's 9-35 (26%).
The Warhawks whittled the lead down to 10 multiple times but were never able to break into single digits in the second half as Superior shot even better in the second 20 minutes, 18-27 (67%).
The Yellowjackets took care of the ball committing 14 turnovers, seven less than UW-W forces on average. Superior shot 58% from the field in the game, the best this season. The Warhawks shot 32% but had the advantage at the free throw line making 12-14 compared to 7-10 for UW-S.
Kaitlyn Thill led UW-Whitewater with 16 points, seven assists and two steals in the game. Abbie Reeves added 13 points and Kristen Ruchti dropped in 10 points. Ruchti shared team high honors on the glass with Amy Mandrell with seven each.
The Warhawks are 22-4 on the season and Superior, 16-11, will advance to the WIAC Championship against UW-Oshkosh to be played Saturday. The winner will receive the league's automatic bid into the national tournament.
