Tigers Advance to NCAC Semifinals with 71-40 Win over Wooster

Greencastle, Ind.- The fourth-ranked DePauw Tigers were back in action Tuesday night, playing host to the College of Wooster in their quarterfinal matchup of the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament. The Tigers easily advanced to the semifinals with a 71-40 victory.

Top-seeded DePauw improved to 25-1 with the win, while Wooster finished the season at 7-18. The Tigers host Kenyon in Friday's second semifinal game at Neal Fieldhouse.

DePauw got off to a fast start in the first half taking a 9-3 lead in the opening three minutes. The Tiger trio of Savannah TreesHannah Douglas, and Alex Gasaway scored 26 of DePauw's 40 points in the half, going 8-of-13 from the floor.

The Tigers shot 50.0 percent from the floor in the half and posted a 14-of-16 mark from the charity stripe. DePauw held Wooster to just 30.0 percent shooting, forcing 12 turnovers and scoring 14 points off those turnovers.

Following the intermission, the Tigers wasted no time extending their 40-17 halftime lead to as much as 38, en route to a 71-40 win.

Thirteen Tigers scored in the victory, led by Douglas who had a game-high 12 points. Gasaway added nine points, while Trees and Emma Ondik each added eight points. Alison Stephensgrabbed a game-high six rebounds for DePauw who outrebounded Wooster by a 35-18 margin.

The Fighting Scots were led by Karley Walker who tallied nine points in the loss. Lauren Hancher dropped in eight points and had three steals for Wooster.

DePauw shot 53.3 percent from the floor to Wooster's 33.3 percent and the Tigers outscored the Scots 30-8 in bench points.
