The Hope College women's basketball team completed the third undefeated regular season in team history on Saturday by defeating visiting Rochester College 88-47.

The nationally ranked Flying Dutch improved to 25-0 overall with the nonleague win in front of a DeVos Fieldhouse crowd of 1,144.

Hope finished as one of four teams in the country to go undefeated this season. The others were Thomas More (Ky.), Whitman (Wash.) and Farleigh Dickinson-Forman (N.J.).

The Flying Dutch also joined the 2007-08 and 2002-13 Hope teams who went unbeaten in the regular season.

Junior forward Emily Klauka of Holt (Holt HS) topped Hope by scoring a game-high 12 points. She made all six of her field-goal attempts.

Senior guard Anna Kaufmann of Davenport, Iowa (Davenport Central HS) and sophomore forwardMaura McAfee of Midland (Midland HS) each scored 11 points.

It was Senior Day for the Flying Dutch.

Kaufmann, senior guard Megan Kelley of Rockford (Rockford HS) and forward Kelsey Masserant of Novi (Novi HS) also were honored during a pre-game ceremony along with student assistant coaches Kristen Slotman of Hudsonville and Christy Miller of Leland.

"They're just a group of the finest people you would every run into," Hope coach Brian Morehouse said. "They're certainly indicative of our basketball program and also the quality of people Hope College attracts in the diversity of their interests, in their service to others and just their selflessness putting the team above their own self-interests.

"I think it's just a really unique group that came in and fought. Everyone one of these players was on the (junior varsity) team their freshman year. They have all worked incredibly hard to get to the positions they're in."

Hope, ranked No. 2 in the USA Today Sports NCAA Division III coaches poll and No. 3 by d3hoops.com, begins postseason play on Thursday, Feb. 27, when it hosts Adrian College in MIAA Tournament semifinal action. Tipoff for the top-seeded Flying Dutch is 7:30 p.m. 

The winner advances to the championship game on Saturday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. to play either Olivet College or Calvin College at the site of the highest remaining seed.
