Rams Defeat Sage; Earn Eighth Straight Skyline Victory

Farmingdale State - 86, The Sage Colleges - 70


Farmingdale, N.Y. - Farmingdale State earned an 86-70 win over The Sage Colleges this afternoon and improved to 10-1 in the Skyline Conference and 13-8 on the season. The Gators dropped to 13-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play.

Trailing 27-26 with 6:07 remaining in the first half, sophomore forward Aries Adams (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a layup and senior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) connected on back-to-back 3's to put the Rams ahead 34-27. Farmingdale State took a seven point lead, 44-37, into the halftime break. The Rams were a perfect 10-for-10 at the line in the first half.

Leading 51-43 early in the second, Farmingdale State used a 10-0 run to increase the advantage to 18 points with 12:06 left to play. The Rams led by as many as 23 over the final minutes en route to the 86-70 victory.

Young led all scorers with 22 points (9-of-10 FT's), while junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) had 20 points and a game-high six assists.

The Gators were led by junior forward Amie Jefferson (Albany, N.Y.) who tallied 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting and eight rebounds.

Farmingdale State next will travel to St. Joe's for a Skyline Conference game on Wednesday, February 19th at 5:30 p.m.
