UW-La Crosse Falls to Eleventh-Ranked UW-Whitewater

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 83-68 to 11th-ranked UW-Whitewater Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall.  The Eagles drop to 10-13 overall and 4-10 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Warhawks improve to 20-3 overall and 14-0 in the conference.  

The Warhawks, ranked 11th on this week's D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll, led 22-16 with 7:43 left in the first half when the Eagles scored five straight points to cut the lead to 22-21.  UW-Whitewater led 32-28 with 1:15 remaining in the half when it went on a 7-1 run to end the half and lead 40-29.

UW-L, playing its final regular-season game of the season, cut the deficit to 53-42 with 13:13 left on a Jenna Anderson layup, but UW-Whitewater went on a 7-0 run to lead 60-42 with 11:52 remaining.  The Eagles could get no closer than 14 points the rest of the game. 

UW-L shot 49.1% from the field, including 26.7% (four-of-15) from three-point range, and 66.7% (12-of-18) at the free throw line.

Erin Levenhagen led the Eagles with 16 points and three blocks while adding four rebounds.  Mallory Cramer finished with 13 points while Rachel Atchison had nine.  Anderson and Katie Ehlen each totaled eight points with Ehlen finishing with a game-high nine rebounds.

UW-Whitewater shot 32.4% from the field, including 37.9% (11-of-29) from three-point range, and 85.7% (24-of-28) at the line.

Katie Burton led the Warhawks with 18 points while Kaitlyn Thill finished with 17 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and five steals.  Reilly Stewart had 12 points while Amy Mandrell finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.  

It marks the seventh straight season UW-Whitewater has won at least 20 games.  The Warhawks earned their 22nd straight regular-season conference victory.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, February 15 at UW-Superior at 3 p.m.
