Cyclones Roll In Home Finale

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Freshman forward Melissa Rabe (Byram, N.J./Lenape Valley) produced her first-career double-double and Centenary College limited Notre Dame University of Maryland to 23 percent shooting as the Cyclones rolled to a 61-21 women's basketball victory Saturday afternoon at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center.
 
Rabe recorded career highs with 14 points (7-12 FG) and 11 rebounds, while also blocking three shots in 27 minutes of play. Classmate Mallory George (Berkeley Height, N.J./Governor Livingston) tallied 11 points and senior Klarissa Perry (Englewood, N.J./Dwight Morrow) added eight points and nine boards during the final home game of her career.
 
Centenary (8-13, 6-6 CSAC) stormed out to a 25-0 lead after 10 minutes and never looked back. The Cyclones led 37-4 at the half after allowing just two Gator baskets during the opening 20 minutes.
 
CC, which built a lead as large as 45 points during the second half, shot 37 percent (26-70) from the field and forced 27 turnovers.
 
All 11 Cyclones that saw action scored at least two points and nine grabbed at least one steal, led by George's three thefts. Centenary pulled down 48 rebounds, including 22 on the offensive end, compared to 27 total boards for Notre Dame.
 
Erika Deppenschmidt paced the Gators with 15 points, while Shaun-de Jones collected nine rebounds.
 
Centenary embarks on a four-game road trip Monday at Baptist Bible. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 pm.
