Buffalo State's Winning Streak Ends, Stopped at Oneonta, 70-54

ONEONTA, NY— Buffalo State (17-4/12-2) could not get its offense in sync today as its seven-game winning streak came to a halt with a 70-54 defeat at the hands of host Oneonta (16-6/10-5) in a SUNYAC game at Dewar Arena.

Kala Crawford (Middle Falls/Saratoga Springs) was the lone Buffalo State player scoring in double-figures, matching a career high with 18 points to go with eight rebounds.  Ashley Wallace (Lockport/Starpoint) added nine points and 11 boards.

Buffalo State jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but Oneonta quickly erased the deficit and held a narrow 28-26 advantage at halftime.  The Red Dragons mounted a 17-0 run out of the break, holding the Bengals scoreless for the first 6:48 of the second half.  Buffalo State never got closer than nine the rest of the way.

Both teams struggled from the field with Oneonta connecting on 34-percent of its field goal attempts, while the Bengals shot just 33-percent.  Oneonta outscored Buffalo State 26-12 at the free throw line, hitting 65-percent, while Buffalo State shot just 55-percent from the line.  The Bengals also committed 21 turnovers, compared to only 11 by the Red Dragons.

Buffalo State will look to bounce back when it hosts Brockport next Friday at 6 p.m.
