Lynchburg Rallies Past Guilford, 69-61

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Shannan Allan scored 22 of her game-high 25 points in the second half to rally Lynchburg College past Guilford College Wednesday, 69-61, in a meeting of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) leaders.

Guilford's Gabby Oglesby made a traditional three-point play with 14:02 left, which gave the Quakers a 45-34 lead, their largest of the game. The Hornets trailed by six with 10 minutes left, but ripped off a decisive 21-3 run over the next six-and-a-half minutes. Allan scored eight points during the burst.

Allan connected on five of seven three-pointers and also paced Lynchburg with seven rebounds. Charmaine Hairston added 11 points and three steals. Chaney Forbush and Ann Dorris netted 10 points apiece. Hairston and Dorris helped the Hornets' reserves outscore their Guilford counterparts, 25-8.

Oglesby's 18 points and career-high 17 rebounds led the Quakers (15-5, 7-4 ODAC). Oglesby moved into third place among Guilford's career rebounding leaders with 837. Brittany Drew added 12 points and Kayla Adams scored 11 points.

Guilford visits Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday (2/5) in another ODAC game.
