Brickley Pours In 28 Points To Power Trinity Women's Basketball Past Colby

Waterville, Maine - Senior forward Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) dominated inside with a game-high 28 points and eight rebounds to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 67-58 win over the Colby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball action this afternoon at Wadsworth Gymnasium.  Trinity moves to 11-8 overall and 4-3 in conference play, snapping a three-game losing skid which came against three nationally-ranked opponents, while the Mules drop to 6-14 overall and 0-7 in the league.

Brickley was 12-for-18 from the field and had five offensive rebounds. Senior guard Moriah Sweeney (Ramsey, N.J.) added seven points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Christina Raiti (Plainvuew, N.Y.) had eight points, and senior forward Shantel Hanniford (Nantucket, Mass.) scored six points and pulled down eight boards for the Bantams.  Desi Smith was 5-for-8 from the field and 6-for-6 from the foul line to lead Colby with 17 points and four assists. Mia Diplock added 14 points on 5-for-9 shooting and three assists, while Carylanne Wolfington finished with 11 points and four assists.  Trinity had a 36-26 rebounding advantage, while the Mules helped their cause by making 14 of 16 free throws.

The Bantams led most of the first half and had a 27-22 lead with 4:39 to play. Trinity used a 7-0 run the rest of the way to take a 34-22 margin into intermission.  Trinity came out strong in the second half behind Brickley, who powered her team to a 39-24 lead with 17:53 left to play. The Bantams still led 44-32 when the Mules used an 11-0 run to cut the lead to 44-43 with 10:34 left after a Jamie Wallace jumper.  The Bantams recovered and used a 15-0 run to push the margin to 59-43 with 6:24 remaining.
