The Albion women's basketball team fell just short against Adrian College, 81-77. The Britons trailed by as many as 21 points, but made a 6-0 run in a span of nine seconds in the final minute to cut the margin to just two points.

"We started making our shots, made some threes, built some confidence," Albion Coach Doreen Carden said about Albion's rally. "We got focused and played hard enough to give ourselves a chance."

Kresge Gymnasium was buzzing after Brett de Bear sunk her second of two free throws to bring the Britons within one possession with 11 seconds remaining. de Bear ended the game with 17 points and seven rebounds while knocking down nine of her 10 free throw attempts.

Adrian knocked down 8 of 12 three-point attempts in building its big first half lead.

"That's going to happen against us from time-to-time," said Carden about her team's 2-3 zone base defense. "We try to stop the drive and make teams shoot from out there."

Mikaela Bromley had a huge night off the bench, matching her season high with 15 points before fouling out in the final minute of the game. Bromley also added four assists and a pair of rebounds.

Olivia Savage had a career night with 17 points while shooting 60 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc.

Carolina Adamczyk stepped up and had another strong outing, contributing eight points, six rebounds, and two assists off the bench.

"We really need our energy from the second half of tonight to carry over when we go to Olivet," said Carden about Albion's upcoming game against Olivet College. "We're going to need to play a full 40 minutes against them. They're a good team and we really can't afford to disappear for 20 minutes at a time."

The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Olivet next Wednesday.
