STANDISH, Maine -- Sophomore guard Sadie DiPierro knocked down a trio of three-pointers and tallied a career-high 16 points to help the University of New England women's basketball team to a 60-52 non-conference victory over Saint Joseph's College (Maine) on Monday evening (Jan. 27) at the Harold Alfond Center.

The Nor'easters move to 15-2 overall with the triumph, while the Monks slip back to 13-4 on the year. It marks the 10th straight meeting between the teams where UNE has come out on top.

Big Blue got a team-high 17 points out of junior Kelly Coleman, who also picked up seven rebounds. Sophomore Meghan Gribbin added nine points, and classmate Lauren Hayden had eight to go with 11 rebounds and four steals. First-yearAlicia Brown ended with seven points, nine boards, and five blocks.

SJC was led by Abby Young with 18 points and seven rebounds. Morgan Cahill added 14 points, 11 caroms, and five blocks, while Lindsay Moore recorded 11 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals.

The teams traded the advantage in the early stages of the 1st half, and the Monks were ahead by one (9-8) before a 9-0 run left the Nor'easters with the lead for good. DiPierro tallied five in the span.

The margin swung between nine (20-11) and three (22-19) as the period continued, and settled on a 26-23 UNE edge at halftime.

Cahill netted the opening hoop of the 2nd frame to trim the deficit to one, but that would be as close as the home side would get. Big Blue answered with seven straight points, and maintained a cushion between five (38-33) and 13 points (60-47) the rest of the way.

With the out-of-league portion of its schedule complete, UNE will get back to its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) docket on Wednesday (5:30 p.m.) with a home match against Eastern Nazarene College.
