Farmingdale State - 69 , Mount Saint Vincent - 44
Riverdale, N.Y. - Junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) scored a game-high 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting as Farmingdale State earned a 69-44 Skyline Conference victory at Mount Saint Vincent this afternoon.
After an early 12-12 tie game, an 8-0 Rams (8-7, 5-1) run capped off by an Andrea Desvignes (Deer Park, N.Y.) 3-pointer put Farmingdale State ahead by eight with 4:20 remaining in the half.
The Dolphins (11-4, 4-2) pulled within six and then used two free-throw's and a jump shot by freshman guard Christina Barone (Staten Island, N.Y.) to cut the deficit to 22-20. A late layup by Romero gave Farmingdale State a 24-20 halftime lead.
The Rams started the second half on a 12-4 run to quickly open up a 36-24 advantage. After extending the lead to 13, 48-35, another 12-4 run put Farmingdale State on top 60-39. The Rams allowed only five points over the final 4:49 to earn their third consecutive victory.
Senior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) scored 10 points, while senior forward Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) had a game-high 13 rebounds for Farmingdale State.
Mount Saint Vincent was led by junior center Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) who had 12 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.
The Rams next will host NYU-Poly in a conference game on Monday, January 27th at 6:00 p.m.
