NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The College of New Rochelle outscored Centenary College 44-32 the second half as it claimed a 75-69 victory during the Cyclones' final non-conference women's basketball game of the season on Thursday night.

Centenary (6-10) was handed the six-point defeat despite a career-high 24 points from freshman forward Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston). George connected on 9-of-20 shots from the floor and grabbed 10 rebounds (all offensive) for her fifth double-double.

The game's opening 10 minutes were closed contested with neither team leading by more than four points.

Centenary trailed at the 6:37 mark, but freshman forward Melissa Rabe's (Byram, N.J./Lenape Valley) bucket started an 11-3 Cyclone run that spanned over four minutes. Senior guard Klarissa Perry (Englewood, N.J./Dwight Morrow) connected on a pair of baskets and sophomore guard Ally Fugnitti (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) capped the spurt with a steal and fast-break layup.

George sank a pair of shots during the final minute to help Centenary grab a six-point halftime lead.

Perry's layup with 17:11 to play handed the Cyclones a five-point cushion; however, CNR responded with 10-straight points during the next two minutes to retake the lead.

The Angels extended their edge as large as nine points before Centenary managed to slice its deficit to three on three occasions. George made the score 72-69 with 35 seconds to play, but the Cyclones misfired on their final three shots and CNR sank a trio of free throws to secure the win.

Perry recorded a 17-point, 13-rebound double-double, while Fugnitti added 14 points, five assists and four steals.

The Cyclones shot 39 percent (29-73) but connected on just 8-of-18 attempts from the charity stripe.

CNR sank 45 percent (24-53) of its field goal tries and trekked to the free throw line 39 times, sinking 22. Jasmine Brandon and Alyssa Pechin both scored 18 points to pace the Angels.

Colonial States Athletic Conference play resumes for the Cyclones on Saturday when they host Cabrini at 1:00 pm.
