Beasley Sets Career Assist Record in No. 5 Saints' 112-34 Win Over Bethany

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Senior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) set the Thomas More College women's basketball career assist record and led the fifth-ranked Saints to a 112-34 win over Bethany College tonight (Wednesday, January 22, 2014) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 16-0 overall and 9-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Bison fall to 4-12 overall and 3-6 in the PAC.

With an assist at the 16:24 mark of the second half, Beasley recorded her 431st career assist broke the previous career record of 430, which was held by Shannon Galbraith-Kent '98. Beasley finished the game with 12 assist to increase her career mark to 433.

Thomas More built a 58-17 halftime lead as it out-scored the Bison 38-2 in the paint and 32-2 on points off turnovers. The Saints shot 72.2 percent from the field (26-of-36) as they forced 17 turnovers.

The Saints out-scored the Bison, 54-17, in the second half as they went onto the 112-34 victory.

Sophomore guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) and junior forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) led four Saints in double-figure scoring as they each scored 21 points. Joining them in double-figures was senior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 19 points and junior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 15 points. Junior guard Stephanie Krusling (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) led the Saints on the boards with five rebounds, while sophomore guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led the team in steals with five.

Thomas More will return to action on Saturday (January 25) was it hosts Grove City College at 1 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
