Charmaine Hairston Nets 18 as LC Women Defeat E&H 70-46

LYNCHBURG, VA – Freshman Charmaine Hairston tied a career-high with 18 points as the Lynchburg College women's basketball team rolled to a 70-46 victory Saturday afternoon over visiting Emory & Henry College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest.

The score was tied at 14 with 7:36 remaining in the first half, but the Hornets opened a 10-point lead by intermission with a 17-7 run.

Lynchburg put the game away with another large spurt early in the second half, this time a 19-5 run to pull ahead 50-28.  The Hornets led by at least 15 points the rest of the way.

Hairston hit seven of her 10 shots from the floor en route to her game-high point total. Chaney Forbush tallied 13 points and five rebounds while Shannon Allan had 11 points. Lauren Penley posted six points and added five boards and Jaimie Grace also had six points.

Karina Farr scored a team-high 11 points and snared seven rebounds for the Wasps (3-14/1-5 ODAC). Kristie Langley had eight points and nine rebounds. The LC defense forced E&H into just 29 percent shooting from the floor (16-55) and 18 percent from beyond the three-point arc (3-17).

The Hornets (8-7/5-1 ODAC) travel to Hollins University Wednesday at 7 p.m.
