The Millikin women's basketball team lost at Illinois Wesleyan 94-74 on Jan. 15 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill.
The Titans led the entire game, but the Big Blue managed to stay close in the first half trailing only 41-32 at the half. The Titans opened the second half on a 23-5 run in the first seven minutes to push the advantage to 27 points and held for the victory.
Both teams performed well offensively with the Titans hitting on 54.5 percent of its shots while Millikin converted on 50 percent. The Big Blue hit on 5-9 (56 percent) from three point range. Illinois Wesleyan was 18-26 from the line while Millikin was 11-17. The Titans out rebounded Millikin 35-32 and forced Millikin into 31 turnovers while committing 23.
Millikin had five players score in double figures led by freshman Yip Ypya with 16 points. Bria Williams and Alyssa Saklak each had 12 points. Holly Haskins added 11 and Brittany Czaplicki had 10 points. Haskins had a team high six rebounds.
Illinois Wesleyan got 24 points and eight rebounds from senior Shelby Jackson. Colleen McMahon scored 19 points. Kasey Reaber had a team high nine rebounds.
The Titans remain unbeaten in CCIW action and improve to 10-5, 4-0. Millikin is now 6-9, 0-4.
Things don't get any easier on Saturday, Jan. 18 as Millikin hosts nationally ranked Carthage College at 5 p.m. The Lady Reds are tied with Illinois Wesleyan at the top of the CCIW.
