High Scoring, Season Bests for Caltech & Swarthmore in Garnet Win

PASADENA, CA – Katie Lytle's all-around effort aided in Swarthmore's 97-80 win over Caltech on Thursday afternoon.

The pre-season All-American scored 22 points and grabbed 24 rebounds for the Garnet. The 24 boards are tied for the fifth best effort by a NCAA Division III player this season.

Caltech had their fair share of highlights in the high scoring contest. The Beavers 80-point afternoon was the most a Caltech squad has scored since a Dec. 12, 2011 game against Arizona Christian when they scored 83 points. Bridget Connor's 21-point effort represented a personal best while playing a career high 36 minutes.

The Garnet put on a shooting display to offset Caltech highest scoring performance. Swarthmore hit on 53.5 percent (38-for-71) of their shots from the field while connecting on 12 of their 19 attempts from behind the arc (63.2 percent). Swarthmore set season highs in points, made field goals and made three-pointers en route to win.

Caltech made a season high 34 field goals and nearly shot a season best from the field (43.6 percent). The Beavers seven made three-pointers tied a team season high.

In addition to Connor's effort, Grace Leishman's 13-point output was her second best total on the year. The sophomore grabbed a team best seven rebounds.

Esther Du tied her season high with a 14-point performance while Stephanie Wong rounded out the double figure scorers for Caltech with 12.

For Swarthmore Ellie Laren connected on 12 of her 16 field goal attempts as she scored a game high 27 points in 25 minutes of court time.
