Cabrini Women Down Del. Valley 68-55

RADNOR, Pa. – After a slow start, the Cabrini women's basketball turned up the defense and scored a 68-55 victory over the visiting Delaware Valley College Aggies tonight at Nerney Field House.  The Cavaliers' third consecutive victory improved the club to 11-3 overall.

The Blue and White got balanced scoring on the night as six players recorded at least seven points.  Sophomore Kristina Startare led the way with a career high 15 points on 6-8 shooting.  Junior amber Keys barely missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. 

Senior Brittany Sandone fought through a tough shooting day to finish with 11 points and five boards, while fellow senior Annie Rivituso paired 10 points and six boards.  

The Cavaliers struggled in the early minutes of the game, as the Aggies built an early five point lead but the Blue and white scored eight of the next 10 points, with a Startare three pointer giving Cabrini a lead it would not surrender.  The game remained tight throughout the opening half, with the Cavaliers owing a 33-27 lead at the break.

The Cavaliers took control of the game in the second half with a dominant paint performance.  Cabrini outrebounded the Aggies 20-13 after the break and outscored them 16-4 in the painted are.  Meanwhile, the connected on 8-11 from the free throw line to help maintain its lead.

Sophomore Meghan Martin chipped in with eight points and a career high six rebounds off the bench. Fellow sophomore Dana Peterson posted seven points, three rebound and three assists.

Junior Brittany Wood led Delaware Valley (7-5) with 14 points, while sophomore Eireann Anastasi paired 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Blue and white will return to CSAC action on Wednesday when they host Rosemont College (3-9, 1-3 CSAC) in the first half of a women's and men's doubleheader.  The ladies will open the action at 6:00 p.m. with the men to follow at 8:00 p.m.

The game will also mark the first Cabrini Nation Night: #DoBlue celebration.  All fans are invited to wear blue, with the first 100 Cabrini students in attendance receiving limited edition #DoBlue t-shirts.
