Huber Shines in Return as R-MC Downs Gallaudet

ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Taylor Huber (Ashland, Va./Patrick Henry) scored 30 points off the bench in her first action since Dec. 5 as Randolph-Macon defeated Gallaudet 91-55 Thursday evening in women's basketball action at Crenshaw Gymnasium in its final non-conference contest of the season.

Huber was 11 for 13 from the floor, 5 for 6 on three-pointers and 3 for 3 from the free throw line. Junior Sarah Parsons (Glen Allen, Va./J.R. Tucker) added 21 points and sophomore Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, Va./Patrick Henry) chipped in 19. Anderson hit 9 of 11 field goals and pulled down seven rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets (10-2) led 6-3 five minutes into the contest before a 10-2 run extended the lead to 16-5 with 12:43 to go in the first period. Huber scored all 10 points during the run for R-MC. The Bison (6-5) scored 10 straight to pull within one at 16-15 with 8:30 remaining in the half. The Yellow Jackets scored 23 straight points over the next five minutes to take control at 39-15. Huber scored 10 during the run. Parsons scored the final eight points of the half for R-MC as the home team took a 47-24 advantage at the break. Huber had 20 points in the first period, while Parsons added 17. The Yellow Jackets forced Gallaudet into 17 first-half turnovers and held the visitors to 30% shooting from the floor (9-30).

R-MC led 60-33 early in the second half before a 20-1 spurt gave the Yellow Jackets their largest lead of 46 points at 80-34 midway through the second stanza before posting the 91-55 victory.

R-MC returns to ODAC action on Saturday, Jan. 11, for a 4 p.m. contest at Lynchburg.
