(WASHINGTON, Pa.) – Four Saints reached double-figure scoring today (Saturday, January 4, 2014) as the sixth-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team defeated Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) rival Washington & Jefferson College, 96-62, at the Henry Memorial Center in Washington, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 11-0 overall and 4-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Presidents' fall to 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the PAC.

W&J took an early 7-4 lead on a Valerie Dunlap lay-up with 18:43 to play in the first half.  The Saints answered with a 17-4 run to build a 21-11 lead with 13:06 to play in the half when sophomore guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) made a jumper.  The Presidents answered with a 4-0 run capped by a Dunlap jumper with 10:21 to play in the half to cut the lead to 21-15.  Thomas More closed out the half on a 31-14 run to take a 52-29 halftime lead when Moss converted an old fashion three-point play with five-seconds to play in the half.

The Presidents opened the second half on an 11-6 run to cut the lead to 58-40 with 16:05 to play in the game when Alexa DelGreco made a three-pointer.  That would be as close as W&J would come as Thomas More closed out the game on a 38-22 run for the 96-62 win.

Moss led all scorers with 29 points.  Joining her in double-figure scoring was junior forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) with 19, senior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 16 and junior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 11 points.  Burgoyne led the team on the boards with nine rebounds, while junior guard Stephanie Krusling (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) led the team in steals with four.  Senior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led the team in assists with eight and moved into second on the Saints' all-time career assists list with 368.  She only trails Shannon Galbrath '98, who has 430.  Kitchen with her 16 points improved her career point total to 994 points and needs only six points to become only the 15th player in program history to score 1,000 points.

The Saints return to action on Wednesday (January 8) when they host Geneva College at 5:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
