SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Colby College defeated Maine Maritime 55-29 in the consolation game of the Hampton Inn/West Springfield Naismith Classic in Blake Arena on Wednesday afternoon. The Mules snapped a six-game slide and improved to 4-7, while the Mariners fell to 4-6.

Bekah Campbell led Maine Maritime with 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. The junior was named to the All-Tournament team.

Carylanne Wolfington tallied game highs in both points and rebounds with 14 and eight to pace Colby. Brooke Chandor  added 10 points and five boards off the bench, and Mia Diplock recorded nine points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Maine Maritime's Kari Jones  opened up the game with a pull up jumper, but over the next 13 minutes, Colby held the Mariners scoreless while netting 16 points. Campbell scored six-straight points for MMA to make it a 16-8 game with 4:22 to play, only to have Colby surge ahead with a 10-2 burst to head into the locker room with a 26-10 lead.

Colby's lead grew to 20 just 2:35 into the second half after Gabe Donahue drained a three-pointer to make it 32-12. The Mariners responded with a 7-1 push, capped off by a Cheyenne Malloy triple to get within 14, but that would be as close as they would get in the afternoon.
