Newark, N.J. – Marymount University's women's basketball team fell 60-44 on the road at Rutgers-Newark in non-conference action on Monday afternoon.  The Saints drop to 6-4 overall on the season heading into Capital Athletic Conference play after the New Year.

Aileen Maknati and Amanda Wolfe led the Saints with nine points each while Kievanna Lacey added seven.  Lacey and freshman Kiki Laux both hauled in 10 rebounds.

A tough first half saw Rutgers-Newark (6-3) jump to a 7-0 lead and take its first double-figure lead up 16-6 at the 8:52 mark before going into halftime leading 37-20 against a depleted Marymount squad.

Undeterred, the Saints came out of the break fighting and outscored their hosts 24-23 in the second half.  The Scarlet Raiders would push their lead to as many as 20 in the frame but MU battled back to pull within 10 with just over nine minutes to play.  Anchoring down, Rutgers-Newark would hold the Blue and White's comeback at bay the rest of the way to secure the victory.

ShaQuanna Marshall led Rutgers-Newark with a game-high 23 points.

Marymount returns to action after the New Year as it travels to face St. Mary's (Md.) in CAC play on Saturday.
