No. 5 Flying Dutch Beat Eastern, Pa., In RDV Sportsplex D3 Classic semifinal

Forward Rebekah Llorens scored a game-high 18 points to lead the nationally ranked Hope women's basketball team to a 74-61 win against Eastern, Pa., on Friday in Orlando, Fla.

The Flying Dutch improved to 10-0 overall as they advanced to Saturday's 3 p.m. championship game of the RDV Sportsplex D3 Classic.

Hope will play Wisconsin-La Crosse, a 70-56 winner against Mount Aloysius, Pa. in Friday's first semifinal.

The Flying Dutch are ranked No. 2 in USA Today Sports NCAA Division III Coaches poll and No. 5 by d3hoops.com. Wisconsin-La Crosse, from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, brings in a 6-4 record.

Against Eastern, Hope took control by outscoring the Eagles 43-28 during the first half.

Llorens, a junior from Grayslake, Ill. (Grayslake Central HS), scored 12 points to spark the Flying Dutch. She sank 6-of-7 foul shots and 3-of-6 field-goal attempts before halftime and added three more field goals during the second half.

Senior guard Anna Kaufmann of Davenport, Iowa (Davenport Central, chipped in nine points off the bench for Hope.

Starting forward Maura McAfee of Midland (Midland HS) scored eight points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for the Flying Dutch.

Eastern (4-5) received 16 points from Kaitlyn Dougherty. The Eagles will play Mount Aloysius (3-4) at 1 p.m. Saturday in the consolation game.

Wisconsin La Crosse was led by two double-digit scorers —Mallory Cramer with a team-high 16 points and 10 from Jenna Anderson.

Mount Aloysius received 20 points from Lindsey Sammarco and 16 from Becky Bard.
