DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—Junior Ellen Cook (Eugene, Ore.) scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the second half to lift 12th-ranked Williams College to a 56-47 victory over Babson College in non-conference women's basketball action at the Daytona Beach Shootout on Thursday night.

With the victory, Williams remains unbeaten, moving to 9-0, while Babson drops to 2-6 on the year.

Junior Lindsey Roche (Arlington, Mass.) poured in a career-high 19 points, going 9-for-11 from the free throw line, to lead the Beavers. First-year Jennifer Narlee (Medfield, Mass.) chipped in with nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds, both career highs, for the Green and White, which grabbed 28 offensive boards and held a 60-39 edge on the glass.

Cook went 7-for-14 from the floor for the Ephs, and knocked down four three-pointers. Sophomore Jane Thompson (New Milford, Conn.) added 11 points, while junior Kellie Macdonald (Danvers, Mass.) contributed seven points, six rebounds, and a game-high four assists.

Despite trailing by as many as eight midway through the first half, nine points from Roche helped Babson pull within 27-24 at the break. The Beavers shot just 20.7 percent (6-for-29) in the stanza, but knocked down 12 of their 16 free throw attempts, and held Williams to just 31.2 percent (10-for-32) shooting.

Sophomore Kristen Ferola (Amherst, Mass.) scored four quick points out of halftime, and after trailing by as many nine points early in the period, a layup by junior Nikki Heavern (Hull, Mass.) helped the Beavers get within 39-34 at the 8:33 mark. Unfortunately, they would get no closer as Cook and first-year Devon Caveney (Andover, Mass. ) combined for 13 points in a decisive 14-3 run that gave the Ephs their biggest lead of the game at 53-37 with just under three minutes to go.

Babson outscored Williams 22-18 in the paint and held a 16-9 advantage on second chance points. The Beavers reserves also outscored the Ephs bench 18-11.

Both teams will play one more game in Daytona Beach as Babson takes on Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m., while Williams will face Potsdam State on Friday at 3 p.m.
