(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Sophomore guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) recorded her fifth double-double of the season tonight (Thursday, December 19, 2013) to lead the sixth-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team to a, 91-68, win over the University of Chicago in a non-conference game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 9-0 and with the loss, the Maroons fall to 5-5.

Thomas More jumped out to a 7-4 lead with 17-:02 to play in the first half when junior forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) made a lay-up. Chicago used an 8-4 run to take the lead at 12-11 when Morgan Donovan made a lay-up with 13:26 to play in the opening half. The Saints answered with a 25-8 run to take their biggest lead of the game at 36-20 on a Moss lay-up with 21-seconds to play in the half. Chicago's Britta Nordstrom made a free-throw with four-seconds to play in the half to cut the Saints' lead to 36-21 at halftime.

The Maroons opened the second half on an 8-2 run capped by a Claire Devaney three-point play with 17:35 to play in the game to cut the lead to 38-29. Undaunted, Thomas More answered with a 42-12 lead to take its biggest lead of the game at 80-41 when senior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) made a three-pointer. Chicago closed the game on a 27-11 run, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More won the game, 91-68.

Thomas More shot 47.9 percent from the field, including 55.9 percent in the second half and was 43.8 percent from behind the three-point arc, including 85.7 percent in the second half. The Saints also forced 18 turnovers and blocked four shots.

Moss scored a game-high 28 points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to record her double-double. She was joined in double-figure scoring by junior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 12 points and Burgoyne with 10 points. Kitchen and senior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) just missed double-figures as they both finished with nine points. Beasley led the team in assists with 11 and now has 355 career assists to move into third on the Thomas More career assists list. She only trails Allison Long '13 (363) and Shannon Galbrath '98 (430).

The Saints are idle until December 30 when they travel to Danville, Kentucky to play in-state rival Centre College. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m. at Alumni Gymnasium.
