Millikin Rolls Past MacMurray

          The Millikin women's basketball team rolled to a 67-40 victory over MacMurray College on Dec. 19 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill.  Millikin improves to 4-4 on the year while MacMurray falls to 0-8.

          Millikin opened the game with a 19-4 run and went into halftime leading 35-13.  Millikin played strong defense in the first half forcing 18 Highlander turnovers and collecting 12 steals.  Millikin shot 45 percent in the first half while holding MacMurray to 22 percent.

          On the game, Millikin shot 40 percent while MacMurray shot 28 percent.  The Highlanders improved from the field in the second half shooting 40 percent including going 5-8 from three point range.  Millikin dominated the glass out rebounding MacMurray 49-31.  Millikin had 22 steals on the game and eight blocks.

          Millikin had three players scoring in double figures led by Brittany Czaplicki with 15.  Yip Ypya added 13 points.  Bria Williams had 10 points and seven rebounds.  Holly Haskins had a team high eight rebounds for Millikin.  Jasmine Johnson scored seven points for Millikin and recorded six blocks.  Susan Durkin led Millikin with five steals.  Czaplicki and Rachael Weber each had four.

          Cydny Saxer led MacMurray with 10 points.

          Millikin will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 21 hosting Fontbonne University at 1 p.m.
