Capital University senior Jamie Caton has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 15, the league announced Monday.

Caton, a forward from Hilliard, Ohio, tallied career-high scoring performances in back-to-back games over the weekend to lead the Crusaders at the Hope Post-Exam Jam in Holland, Mich.

In Capital's 73-65 victory over Robert Morris-Springfield (Ill.) on Friday, Caton littered the box score with 24 points, nine rebounds, four assists, six steals and four blocks. One day later against No. 6 Hope, she bettered her career high with 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting to go along with five rebounds and four steals.

Following the conclusion of play, Caton earned All-Tournament team accolades for the second time in her four-year career.

Caton, who is averaging over 20 points per game in her last five contests, currently leads the Crusaders with 15.9 points per game for the season. She also averages 5.4 rebounds per affair, leads the team with six blocks and has started all eight of the team's games in 2013-14.

Capital (5-3 overall, 2-0 OAC) returns to play this Wednesday against Wilmington at 7:30 p.m. in the Capital Center. The Crusaders close the book on the calendar year Saturday at John Carroll in a 3 p.m. contest.

Each week, OAC coaches and sports information directors nominate student-athletes for each sport in season for the award.
