Illinois College Rallies Past Big Blue

          The Millikin women's basketball team fell victim to a late Illinois College rally losing 56-51 on Dec. 10 at the Griswold Center in Decatur, Ill.

          The Millikin Big Blue went into the locker room with a 30-25 advantage over Illinois College and built the lead to as big as nine points in the second half.  Illinois College made a late charge taking the lead at 49-47 with just under three minutes left to play on a Hannah McGinnis basket and free throw.  The Big Blue tied the game at 49-49 on a Jasmine Johnson bucket.  Illinois College would take the lead for the final time on two Mandy Keith free throws to make it 51-49.  After Illinois College went up by four, Millikin freshman Rachael Webber cut the lead to two points with a basket with 46 seconds left.  Illinois College would answer with a McGinnis three pointer to seal the victory.

          Millikin shot 35 percent from the field while Illinois College hit on 37 percent of its shots.  Illinois College dominated the rebounding battle 46-33.

          Millikin's top scorer was Kelsey Going with 12 points.  Jasmine Johnson had 10 points and a team high seven rebounds.  Bria Williams also had seven boards for Millikin.

          McGinnis had her sixth double double of the season for Illinois College scoring 21 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.  Brittney Burgess had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

          Illinois College is now 5-3 and Millikin falls to 3-4.

          Millikin will be back in action on Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. hosting MacMurray College.
