More news about: Pitt-Bradford

Greensburg, Pa. - The Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team maintained a lead for the duration of the game on Saturday and finished off the Bobcats of Pitt-Greensburg 76-68. The Panthers have now won their fifth straight game after defeating the Bobcats.

Pitt-Bradford (5-1, 1-0) surged into conference play having won four consecutive games. The victory this afternoon makes it five straight and gives the Panthers an undefeated conference record.

Three panthers reached double figures in scoring as Pitt-Bradford used a strong offensive attack to set the tone early in this one.

Sophomore point guard Abby Brate paced the Panthers in scoring with 20 points, five rebounds and one assist. Senior forward Geena Sneeringer finished with 17 points and six rebounds. Freshman guard Kaserra Owens found herself in double figures with 14 points, four rebounds and one assist.

With four minutes remaining in the first half, the Panthers held a 30-18 lead. Pitt-Bradford went on to carry a 37-27 lead into the locker room. The Panthers went to the line for a season-high 27 times in the first half. They were successful on 22 of their attempts.

Pitt-Greensburg (3-4, 1-1) headed into the break shooting just 24 percent from the floor. The Bobcats finished 1-of-8 from behind the arc and 12-of-16 from the charity stripe.

The second half appeared to be a more evenly matched contest. The Panthers had to continuously work the boards for rebounds and put-backs in order to stay in the game and control its lead.

The Bobcats hit the court running in the second half attempting to erase their first half deficit.

At 63-57 with just over two minutes remaining, the game would be as close as it could be. With 2:08 remaining, the Panthers' Carly Dalton hit both free throws to give Pitt-Bradford the cushion it needed to lock up the victory.

The Panthers head into finals week with their next matchup coming Saturday, Dec. 14, as they host Penn State Altoona. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. at the KOA Arena.
