Eagles dominate boards, cruise to win

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Edgewood College women's basketball team returned to the win column on Saturday, picking up their first road victory of the season. The Eagles dominated the boards 58-34 and downed the Cougars 64-51 to even their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference record at 2-2.

 Edgewood College cruised to an 11-0 run to start the game and never looked back. Five different Eagles scored a point in the opening run, proving the offense was ready for a victory. Edgewood College (2-5, 2-2 NACC) turned the ball over 10 times in the half compared to Concordia Chicago's nine, but turned those Cougar blemishes into 13 points. Edgewood College also outscored Concordia Chicago (0-5, 0-4 NACC) 14-8 in the paint before the break to lead 30-22.

After the Cougars scored the first basket of the half to cut their deficit to six, Mariah Hill and Dareon Henderson combined for buckets, giving the Eagles a nine-point advantage. With 11:01 remaining, Brooke McBain put Edgewood College up by double digits and the Eagles held a comfortable advantage the rest of the way.

Hill scored 12 of her game-high 18 points after the break and was 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. Hill added a team-high nine rebounds and five assists. Chelsey Watkins chipped in 10 points and seven boards. The Eagles pulled down a season-high 58 rebounds, including 23 offensive, which tied for fourth in Edgewood College history and was the most since 2010.
