Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team won its fourth-straight game with a 54-45 victory over visiting Mary Washington in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.  The Saints improve to 5-2 on the season and remain undefeated at 2-0 in league play.

Miranda Krott led the Saints with 12 points while Aileen Maknati added 11.  Katelyn Fischer and Kievanna Lacey both notched eight points with Fischer contributing six assists and four rebounds.

Marymount jumped to an early lead on the opening possession with a three-pointer from Maknati and extended its lead to 8-2 over the first five minutes of action.  The Saints held UMW (4-2, 1-1 CAC) without a field goal that entire span, allowing their first basket from the floor at the 15:05 mark.

With MU holding a two possession lead the majority of the opening frame, the Eagles began to mount a comeback late in the first.  Mary Washington would pull within three points at least four different times in the last five minutes before an Amanda Wolfe three-pointer with 47 ticks remaining put the Saints up 26-20 en route to a 26-22 lead going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Mary Washington rallied to take its first lead of the game at 29-28 at the 14:34 mark as part of a 6-0 run.  Both teams would force three ties and four lead changes in the second half.

The Eagles held their lead for nearly five minutes until a pair free throws from Krott tied things up at 36-36 with just over nine minutes to play.  Both sides would trade leads one final time before a 6-0 run put the Saints up 44-39 and gave them their first two-possession lead since the beginning of the half.

Down the stretch, UMW pulled within three points with four minutes to play but Marymount closed out the game on a 9-2 run to seal the win.

Sam Partonen led Mary Washington with 12 points.
