ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. Four players reached double-digit points in the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team's 76-62 victory over visiting Widener in Commonwealth Conference action Wednesday evening at Thompson Gymnasium. Rachel Forjan led the Jays with 17 points.

Taylor Kreider recorded her third double-double of the season, going for 14 points and grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds. Her layup off her own miss kicked off the scoring for Elizabethtown (5-0, 2-0 CC).

Widener (3-2, 1-1 CC) led briefly, 4-3, after a pair of Courtney Colella free throws. Their lead only lasted ten seconds when Kreider tied it back up by splitting a pair at the line and then put the Jays back ahead 40 seconds later on another layup.

After trading baskets and E-town's lead at eight points, the Jays began to pull away with less than six minutes remaining in the opening half. Forjan canned a jumper with 4:44 showing on the clock to increase the advantage to ten. Her three-pointer off a pass from Nikki Thompson with 1:28 left was the final bucket of the first 20 minutes and sent the hosts into the locker room up 35-24.

Sherri Gorman's squad did the job defensively in the first half, holding the Pride without a three-pointer (0-for-7) and limiting them to 8-for-28 from the floor (28.6%). Leading scorer Jen Egee only had four points at the break and 11 for the game. She came into the contest averaging 19.0 ppg.

Widener turned the ball over twice in a row to open the second half. Between, Forjan nailed her second trey of the game to push the lead to 13, 38-24.

The Blue Jays' momentum continued and the lead kept growing. Kendra Beittel missed from beyond the arc, but Kreider was able to secure the rebound and dished to a cutting Beittel to make it 44-25 with 16:52 left to play.

A missed layup for Widener and a defensive board for Kreider led to a fastbreak bucket for Alyssa Aichele, one of the four Blue Jays in double figures. The sophomore finished with a career-high 14 points. With that layup, E-town extended its lead to a game-high 24 points at 60-36.

The Pride slowly chipped their way back into the game, but the Jays had a response each time Widener looked to make a run.

With the lead standing at ten, 72-62, with just over a minute remaining, Aichele calmly sank four straight free throws to put the game away for good.

Taylor Alwine was an efficient 6-for-7 from the floor, including 3-for-4 at the foul line, for a season-high 15 points. That output makes it three straight in which she has scored ten or more.

The women's basketball team is in for another tough test on Saturday, when Messiah comes to visit Thompson Gymnasium. Game time is set for a 1 p.m. start.
