ALBION, Mich. – Brett de Bear scored six of her game-high 25 points during a 14-1 first half run to spark Albion College to a 66-50 victory over Rochester College in a non-league women's basketball game.

It was the third game in which de Bear has scored at least 25 points this season. She is averaging a shade more than 22 points through five games, but Albion's offense became out of sync when de Bear didn't score in the first 10 minutes of the second half.

"We played great in the first half and we did a good job defensively when we were out of sync on the offensive end," Albion head coach Doreen Carden said after her team won its third in a row to take a 3-2 record into its Wednesday Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener at Calvin College. "We got good looks – shots in the paint – from a lot of people. We weren't making shots.

"To win three in a row going into league play is a nice confidence boost," Carden added. "The close win at Anderson provided a confidence boost and the kids are starting to buy in."

Albion knocked down 15-of-30 shots from the field as it built a 41-23 lead at halftime. Oreyana Curry sank a jumper in the paint and a 3-point basket as the Britons led 25-10 midway through the period.

Albion connected on 36 percent of its shots (9-of-25) from the field in the second half and it finished the day shooting 44 percent.

Despite Albion's problems on the offensive end, Rochester was never able to mount a challenge as it shot 22 percent from the field in the second half and 26 percent for the contest. Ericz Schwartrz made a pair of free throws to cut the margin to 12, 48-36, with 8:19 to play but that was as close as the Warriors would get.

Danielle Fraley was the only other Briton to score in double figures, finishing with 10. Olivia Savage was 7-of-10 from the free throw line and finished with nine points.

Rachel Smith led the Warriors with 21 points.
