PASADENA, CA – In their season opening contest the Caltech women's basketball team fell to Linfield 85-55 on Wednesday evening.
Highlighting the game offensively for the Beavers was Bridget Connor. The junior scored a career high 19 points in 38 minutes. She also corralled nine rebounds and swiped two steals.
A pair of first-years put up double figure numbers as Michelle Wong came off the bench to score 10 points while Kate Lewis grabbed 10 rebounds for the Beavers.
Linfield was effective on the offensive end as they built their first half lead. The Wildcats knocked down 18 of their 32 field goal attempts (56.3 percent) en route to grabbing a 46-19 lead at the break. The Wildcats were nearly as effective in the second half as they went 14-for-30 (46.7 percent) from the floor.
The visitors went down low time-and-time again as they held a 46-14 edge in points in the paint.
Katelyn Henson had a team best 16 points to pace the Wildcats offense. Riley Graham (15) and Kaely Maltman (13) also chipped-in double figure scoring efforts.
Caltech will play a pair of games right after the Thanksgiving holiday. They travel to Occidental on Friday to play a 4 p.m. neutral site game against Crown (MN) before hosting La Sierra on Saturday at 6 p.m.
