The New York University women's basketball team defeated NYU-Poly 79-35 on Tuesday evening, November 26, in Brooklyn, NY.
The Violets were led by co-captain forward Megan Dawe. The sophomore recorded her first double-double of the season and the third of her career, leading all scorers with 16 points and pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Three players scored in double figures, led by Dawe's 16.
- Point guard Melissa Peng contributed for the Violets as well. The junior co-captain scored 10 points with four assists, four steals, and three rebounds.
- Freshman center Emily Rowe poured in 10 points while pulling down five boards.
- Sophomore guard Riley Wurtz had a nice all-around game, scoring nine points in addition to pulling down nine boards and dishing out four assists.
- Freshman forward Lindsey Oldshue scored eight points with nine rebounds and two assists.
"it was nice to see Megan Dawe have a double-double -- she was just really efficient," said Head Coach Lauren Hall-Gregory. "I think her defensive rebounds, a lot of times, led to our points in transition. We had a defensive goal for this game, and they really bought into that, and we achieved it. I'm really excited about the Brooklyn game, and I think it will be a great challenge for us."
The Violets will return home on Tuesday, December 3, when they host Brooklyn College at the Coles Sports Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
