Krajco drops 32 in Pioneers overtime win over Marian

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's basketball team earned a 81-77 overtime victory over Marian (Wis.) on Friday on Bo Ryan Court. 

The Pioneers held the Sabres to just one point in the final three minutes of the first half, taking a 37-31 lead into the break. Juniors Rachel Cropp and Alyssa Krajco combined for 26 of the Pioneers 37 points. UW-Platteville forced 16 turnovers and out scored MU 19-0 on points off turnovers. 

The Pioneers took their largest lead of the game of 14 points, 47-33, with under 17 minutes to play. The Sabres managed to tie the game up at 54-54 with just under seven and a half minutes to play, and then took a 65-60 lead with 1:57 left in the regulation. Melissa Carmody made a huge three-pointer from the left corner to make it a two-point game. Sophomore Taylor Lorbiecki stole the ball from MU's Sarah Albert the next possession. Krajco sunk a pair of free throws to tie the game up at 65-65. Both teams missed a free throw in the double bonus in the final 30 seconds to go to overtime. 

Carmody drilled a three-pointer in the Pioneers' first possession of overtime as UW-Platteville took a commanding seven-point lead with 1:46 left in overtime. Cropp and Krajco made their free throws down the stretch to seal the 81-77 win. 

Krajco scored a career-best 32 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for her second career double-double. Cropp ended her night with 18 points. and fellow junior Stacy Clark added 13 points and nine rebounds. 

The Pioneers return to the hardwood on Saturday at 3 p.m. against MSOE, who fell to UW-La Crosse, 54-53, in the first game of the Pioneer Tournament.
