Buena Vista, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team defeated Capital Athletic Conference newcomer Southern Virginia 84-70 on Monday night.  The Saints even their record to 2-2 overall but the game does not count in the league standings because Southern Virginia is in its final year of NCAA provisional status.

Just two games after posting the most points in a contest since 2010 with 81, the Blue and White eclipsed that mark with their 84 points outburst.  Four Saints scored in double-figures while shooting 50 percent from the floor, including a sizzling 52.4% from three-point range.

Katelyn Fischer led the Saints with her second-straight double-double.  The senior guard scored a game-high 19 points to go with 10 assists.

Aileen Maknati added 17 points while Theresa Wick chipped in 12 and Kievanna Lacey had 10 off the bench.

Sam Kane pulled down a team-high eight rebounds for Marymount while Lacey and Miranda Krott added seven.

Marymount converted 11-of-20 three-pointers in the game.  Fischer, Wicks and Maknati combined for 10 of those with Fischer leading the way with four.

Morgan Hartvigsen led the Knights (1-4) with 16 points off the bench.

Marymount returns to action on Sunday as it travels to face Virginia Wesleyan in non-conference play.
