Rams Fall to #13 Ithaca at Amherst Tip-Off

#13 Ithaca - 75, Farmingdale State - 60


Amherst, Mass. - The 13th-ranked Ithaca Bombers earned a 75-60 victory over Farmingdale State in the opening game of the 2013 Amherst Tip-Off Tournament.

Tied 19-19 with 5:47 remaining in the first half, a 12-3 Ithaca (3-0) run put the Bombers ahead 31-22. After a Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) 3-pointer for the Rams (1-3), Ithaca answered with back-to-back 3's to take a 37-25 lead. Farmingdale State went into the break trailing 37-28.

Trailing 46-31 with 14:56 left to play, a 14-0 Farmingdale State run over the next 3:33 cut the deficit to one, 46-45. Senior forward Jenn Escobido (Lisbon, Conn.) responded with four straight points for Ithaca to bring the advantage back to five.

The Bombers led 54-49 with 8:01 left on the clock, until Young tallied five unanswered points and tied the game 54-54. A 21-6 run by Ithaca to close out the game led the Bombers to a 75-60 victory in the opening game of the tournament.

Young led all scorers with 23 points and added five rebounds, while junior guard Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) recorded 18 points. Senior forward Lushanta Savadel (Bellport, N.Y.) scored 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting and grabbed a game-high seven boards.

Senior guard Mary Kate Tierney (Rochester, N.Y.) had a team-leading 19 points and seven rebounds for Ithaca.

The Rams will face RPI in the consolation game on Sunday, November 24th at 2:00 p.m.
