No. 18 William Paterson Women’s Basketball Bounces Back for 86-65 Victory

FROSTBURG, MD. – The No. 18 William Paterson women's basketball team (1-1) bounced back from a four-point loss for a 21-point victory, defeating host Frostburg State (0-2), 86-65, Nov. 16 in the consolation game of the Jim Crawley Tournament.

 

The Pioneers controlled the game from early on, shooting 58.1 (25-43) percent from the floor and outscoring the Bobcats 44-6 in the paint en route to building a 56-34 halftime advantage.

 

Senior guard Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) led WP with 17 points and six assists, adding eight rebounds, while freshman forward Maya Harris (Bloomfield, N.J./Bloomfield) posted her first double-double with 15 tallies and a game-best 10 boards. Senior forward Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) contributed 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocked shots, and senior guard Kristine Jackiewicz (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) added six tallies to her eight boards. All 14 of William Paterson's available players saw action and 12 of them got into the scoring column.

 

Simone Wise led Frostburg State with 25 points, Elaina Hummell had 19 tallies and Courtney Young pulled down eight rebounds.

 

William Paterson will open its home slate Wednesday, Nov. 20, against Farmingdale State at 7:00 p.m.
